    How the player rating is calculated

    MatchGrade turns a match stat line into a single rating out of 10, using the same starting point professional rating services use: a 6.0 baseline represents an anonymous, did-their-job performance. From there, the score moves up or down based on how each stat compares to what's typical for that specific position or role a center-back's rating leans on tackles and clearances, a striker's leans on goals and shot quality, and a bowler's leans on wickets and economy rather than runs scored.

    Every sport has its own scoring model, because the same raw number means something different depending on the role. Ten tackles is an outstanding game for a full-back and an odd stat line for a striker. MatchGrade only asks for the numbers that role actually generates, and shows exactly which stats pushed the rating up or down so the score is never a black box.

    Soccer ratings

    Choose from goalkeeper, centre-back, full-back, defensive mid, central mid, attacking mid, winger, or striker. Core stats are tailored to the role, with optional extras like dribbles, aerial duels, and errors leading to a goal for a more precise score.

    Cricket ratings

    Choose batter, bowler, all-rounder, or wicket-keeper. Batting rating factors in runs, balls faced, and strike rate; bowling factors in overs, wickets, and economy rate; wicket-keepers get credit for catches and stumpings on top of their batting line.
